Come and stay with us at Le Figuier Bed & Breakfast, at L'Ancienne Gendarmerie. The bedrooms are named after the blue shades of flowers found in the garden, Periwinkle, Wisteria and Cornflower. The house is spread over three floors, with the middle floor having a small kitchen to enable guests to make hot drinks or use the microwave for light meals. Adjoining the kitchen there is a comfortable lounge area which has a warm ambience to allow guests to relax and recharge their batteries. Secure storage is available for any additional equipment you may have.

NOTE:
Unfortunately we are not able to accept dogs in the main house.
Smoking is not permitted within any of the buildings.

Le Figuier is the French translation for The Fig Tree, which is located in our grounds. L'Ancienne Gendarmerie dates back to the 18th Century and continued in use until it closed in 1959. It retains many of the original features which surrounds our tranquil and picturesque courtyard where breakfast may be eaten, as well as relaxing in the Normandie sunshine.

The Gendarmerie is located in the working agricultural village of La Foret Auvray, where the GR36, part of the Santiago de Compostella Pilgrimage Route, passes right outside our front door. The annual Course de Cote Hill Climb (Sport Automobile Event) takes place each July, and is a must see event for the car enthusiast.

We are situated on the edge of Suisse Normandie overlooking the valley of the River Orne, which makes it an ideal base for outdoor activities including cycling, hiking, fishing, rock climbing or horse riding, which are all available nearby. Alternatively, if outdoor activities are not for you this is an ideal base to relax and wind down.
